Bonnie Carter
Bonnie Carter first discovered Pilates at a group mat class at her local gym in 2003. She initially thought it was a fun abs workout, and loved how the exercises required focus and a mind/body connection. She started taking private lessons in 2007 as a way to take her Pilates to the next level while she was transitioning out of her career in the theatre as a stage manager. It was then that she truly realized the potential of the exercises to strengthen her body's weaknesses that were caused by her scoliosis and her tibial torsion (a leg alignment condition). Standing a full inch taller than she did prior to starting Pilates lessons (really!), she decided to follow in the footsteps of her teachers and train classically with Romana's Pilates, obtaining her 600 hour certification in 2010.
Continuing to practice Pilates through each of her pregnancies, Bonnie developed a special interest in the postpartum body. Using modified exercises and a gentle approach, she relied on Pilates to regain pelvic floor strength and stability, and reestablish abdominal tone after being diagnosed with diastasis recti following the birth of her son. She loves working with new Moms who are also struggling with these issues.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle and non-invasive healing technique that originated in Japan. It is based on the belief that there is a universal life force energy that flows through every living being, and when this energy is blocked or imbalanced, it can lead to physical, emotional, and spiritual ailments. Reiki practitioners use their hands to channel this healing energy to the recipient, promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the recipient's body, allowing the energy to flow and rebalance. It is a deeply calming and soothing experience, often described as a warm, radiant sensation. Reiki is not associated with any specific religion or belief system, making it accessible to people of various backgrounds.
Many people seek Reiki as a complementary therapy to support their overall health and enhance their body's natural healing abilities.
